[AUDIO] J. Cole - Power Trip (Feat Miguel).

I’ve been meaning to post this a lot sooner, but literally forgot about this post in my drafts. Here is J. Cole’s first single from his highly anticipated upcoming sophomore album “Born Sinner,” titled “Power Trip” which features Miguel on the hook. The duo collaborated before in the past, on Miguel’s debut album “All I Want Is You,” and when I heard that the duo are back together on another single, I knew it was going to be something really special—and it is. The single itself, in my opinion, is one of J. Cole’s best offerings to date, and should be recognized more on the radio (here in Canada that is). Enjoy.

[AUDIO] Ariana Grande - The Way (feat Mac Miller).

Oh who’s this? A new Mariah Carey single? Nope, just Ariana Grande—who happens to sound a lot like Mariah herself—with a new single featuring Mac Miller. Now I know I’m a bit slow on posting this song, but to be completely honest, I wasn’t the biggest fan of this song when I first heard it on Virgin Radio Dubai—yes, Dubai (they are the best radio station ever)—at work. But after several spins and airplays on the radio, this song has finally grown on me. It’s a sweet, summer-loving pop number that will definitely get you in a good vibe, whether you are out for a drive or lounging around. With that, I leave you with this track. Enjoy.

My Last Days: Zach Sobiech

I’d like to dedicate my 1000th Tumblr Post to Zach Sobiech and his amazing story documented by Soul Pancake. I won’t give to much detail about what this video entails, but rather ask that you take a few minutes out of your day and watch this incredible story unfold before your eyes. He redefines what it means to live life with an incredible smile on his face, and explains how cancer should not let you limit your life, but rather let you live it fuller. RIP Zach Sobiech. Thank you for touching our hearts and reminding us there is more to life that we should cherish, than take for granted.

Check out this celebrity music video of his song “Clouds.

Song of the Day:

Ellie Goulding - Hanging On

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a “song of the day” post, and thought this song would be a great addition to my SOTD collection. I came across this song while watching the season finale of The CW’s action extravaganza “Nikita” earlier this evening. Enjoy.

[AUDIO] Will.I.Am - Fall Down (Feat Miley Cyrus).

If Ke$ha’s “Die Young” had a little sister, it would be this offering Will.I.Am right here. The latest release from the Black Eyed Peas member, is another fun, head-bobbing, auto-tune overdosed electro-pop track with collaborations from Miley Cyrus on the vocals. The song itself is alright, and should be a summer hit for Will.I.Am. The radio is going to eat this up like no other, I feel it already—along with some kind of DJ attempt to mash this up with Ke$ha’s song.

Song: Girls Love Beyonce (feat. James Fauntelroy)
Artist: Drake
Album: Girls Love Beyonce - Single
Played: 81 times.

[AUDIO] Drake - Girls Love Beyonce (feat James Fauntleroy)

Drizzy Drake has something to tell the ladies: Girls all have mad love for Beyonce. The Toronto-Native calls upon on singer/songwriter James Fauntleroy to help him out on this joint that pays homage to the Destiny’s Child member, and even samples their hit single “Say My Name” to seal the deal.

The song itself is something you would typically expect from Drake: a smooth, R&B-crooning track with sensationalized lyrics about his love life—or lack there of, apparently since he professes that it’s hard for a guy like him to commit to a girl…having some “Trust Issues” now are we Drake?

Overall, it’s an ok track. Nothing overtly memorable, but I’m sure it will make rounds on most of your guy’s iPod for a short while. Enjoy.

[AUDIO] Empire of the Sun - Alive.

Back from their hiatus, here is the new—and undoubtedly, overdue—single from Empire of the Sun, “Alive.” This single is everything you could ask for from the duo. It’s super chill, yet anthemic vibe makes this synth-pop track so dynamic and refreshing. Definitely shows that Empire of the Sun hasn’t lost their touch or magic over the years, since the release of their debut album back in 2008.

[AUDIO] Chris Brown - Fine China.

Calling all former R&B Breezy Fans, Chris Brown has a new single for you—and it is awesome. Debuting the first single from his forthcoming album, “X”, Brown leaves behind his dance influences, and goes back to a more authentic R&B sound, that most of us known to love in the first place.

There’s no doubt Breezy reels in a noticeably present Michael Jackson-influence to his song, and it works! The single doesn’t resort to a certain gimmicky ruse or an overpowering sample of an MJ classic, which is probably why this record is a refreshing change for Chris—he’s inviting a back a familiar vibe that we grew to love with back in the “Exclusive” era.

Check it out above, and peep the music video, while you are at it! The choreography is sleek and clean (which I don’t expect any less from Chris Brown himself).

Song: Poetic Justice (Feat. Drake)
Artist: Kendrick Lamar
Album: Good Kid M.A.A.D City (Deluxe Edition)
Played: 339 times.

Song of the Day: Kendrick Lamar - Poetic Justice.

As I’m sitting in class trying to pay cautious attention to my anthropology lecture (clearly you can get a sense of how productive I am being right now), I can’t help but have the lyrics of this song from “Poetic Justice,” perusing around my thoughts. This current single from Lamar’s second album Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, has been out for quite some time now, and for me, is one of the clear standouts on his album. The rhymes are smooth, and the sampling of Janet Jackson’s “Any Time, Any Place” was just the perfect touch in giving this “slow jam” song some infectious life. It is definitely one of my favourite tracks of the moment, making this my song of the day. Enjoy.
